Programs
Since 1992, the Synodal School of Liturgical Music has offered a program in liturgical music. The school’s activities consist of annual summer classes; online instruction throughout the year for students of the Core Program; parish outreach activities; and continuing education.
The 30th Annual Russian Orthodox Musicians’ Conference was held from October 4–8 at Saint Xenia Orthodox Church in Otttawa, Ontario. The theme of for 2024 was: “The Orthodox Liturgical Aesthetic: Creating Beautiful Services.”
The All-European Church Music Conference functions under the auspices of the Synodal Liturgical Music Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR). It was formed in spring 2020, in accordance with decree no. 4-2-20 of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops.
The Committee has as its goal the improvement of the quality of church singing and the coordination of church-music activities of the European dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The Committee’s activities in the field of church singing are carried out in collaboration with choir conductors and singers of other churches of the Russian tradition regardless of their jurisdictional affiliation. Our plans include the creation of a Liturgical-Music school in Europe on the model of the Synodal School of Liturgical Music in Jordanville (USA), and the continuation of the tradition of yearly music conferences.
